It sounds like many men in this society have lost their purpose. I remember when I was coming up, and I moved out here to the Bay. The culture shock, the sheer amount of racism that I experienced, led to me not knowing what I was living for. However, I went on to finish college, get married, and I wrote a book about my experiences. People underestimate the effect racism has on black men. I never went through that type of racism back home in Virginia.
